About Susan D.

I have been writing and performing music for a little over 8 years now. I started out doing an open mic every Tuesday night in Ventura, CA @ the Garden Village Cafe, which more recently became The Selah Cafe, and even more recently shut down. ;_; That place held a lot of good memories for me as a performer. It was comfortable, warm, and welcoming. I took it to the next level and drove my amatuer ass out to LA in search of some good open mics that were equally as warm and welcoming. It was a whole heck of a lot different though, but it was a growth experience to just let go of my security blanket and allow myself mesh with all of the fine talent that the city had to offer. Met a lot of awesome people with big hearts and bigger dreams. I started to realize that I wasn't very different from them. I became humbled by the normality of good talent. After my LA "experiences", I convinced myself that "this" has got to be about my deepest inner passion, love, and honesty or it would inevitably die out. Dreams were just dreams from that point on. Reality is reality and as I grow older, I know that this is not something that will ever be handed to me. I have to give to get (in a dirty way.. hah! j/k) I want to become selfless and a servant to people's emotional needs for music. If it becomes something bigger as I personally progress as a musician and songwriter, then I'll take it and run with it. If I had the opportunity and the power, It would be my life's work to make this world a place where hell no longer exists for those who do not have the means to make it a heaven. Sure, that sounds like something a dreamer would say right?! Ok well... I guess I'm still a bit of a dreamer, but dreams bear truths that reveal your most vulnerable side and your most fierce side. There's passion in the act of following your dreams because you either come out swinging or you come out with your heart in your hands...prepared for all of the pains and the loves that the road of dreams will bring you. So......... here I am. UPCOMING........
